Entirety animal Species: Laginnin by Goatlactic Entirety animal Species: Laginnin by Goatlactic
Something a bit less aggressive than the last animal alien I posted.

Laginnin are a mammalian species found all over Karkarr (the planet the Tenaliam live on). When I say all over I mean it, various sub species are found basically on any piece of land where life is possible on that planet. Their size and markings vary considerably, the big image specimen here is a common stripped Laginnin which are one of the larger sub species and the female on the side is a pink jungle Laginnin which are a bit smaller.

These guys are herbivores that take advantage of high leaves in tree with their long neck and modified front legs used to grab around the trunk. Also besides sub species color and size differences the female are usually a slight bit smaller with a less elongated skull and no antler. Yeah you read right, that’s actually not a horn but a single antler that falls out and grows back in a yearly cycle.  the appearance and size of the antler varies per sub species.

As far as design goes I honestly just wanted an animal that are familiar in how it kinda reminiscent of the deers, antelope and even giraffes of earth but with enough obvious anatomical differences to indicate its not from this world. A familiar alien if you will :B also you can’t really go wrong with an alien unicorn. Also yes I will admit I got the idea for how its front limbs should look from the space cows in mass effect, though they won’t steal your money when you aren’t looking (probably…).

So enjoy!

Entirety and all creatures related to it belong to me

Ahh I really like the design here, particularly the patterns and those big paws at the front.  They do look like something that would come from the same planet as the Tenaliam, too.  It's cool to see some consistencies between the species on a planet, it makes the ecosystems seem more believable that way!

Thanks :3, and yeah I'm trying to keep a theme at least with planets that have only one local species. Its a bit harder to have a consistent theme on Tempae since I have 3 species to work with ._. (its a bit less complex with Desergen though since there may be 3 species there but only 2 are native).

I'm really liking this one! I've always had a soft spot for fictional animals with an African/plains vibe to them.

Space unicorns best unicorns!

Hey G, here's something that came to my mind recently - it's cool you have humans as a size difference indicator, because, well, otherwise we would have no idea how big the animals are, but, since their planet of origin is never mentioned in the picture and just in the description, it's a bit hard to remember where each animal comes from. I didn't remember at all that these guys came from Karkarr until re-reading the info even if I had seen them before.
You don't have to listen to me but I would suggest you would either add the text "Planet of Origin" somewhere in the animal sheets, or you could also add the planet's native sapient species in the size comparison. Either way would it make easier to remember where each animal comes from.
But this was just a small suggestion! The sheets are good as they are too. ;w;

Indeed!

Also I was trying to make the sheets as minimalist as possible so that's why I didn't add two size comparisons. I figure people would want a human comparison more than a one to an alien which size they probably don't know by heart. Maybe once I'm done with every non sapiant alien design I'll make a sheet for each planet with them listed besides the race(s) that dwell there and post it to my relevant tumblr :U that would fullfill that and also allow each species' to be compare to other species on the same planet.

Ah, I see! I totally understand.
I think it'd be cool to see a size comparison when you're done because I think it'd be good to also know how big these animals are compared to their respective sapient species.

 Indeed!

I still need to do a height comparison sheet for the characters  at least the main cast because it would get a little crazy comparing like 30 characters all on a single sheet and those are just reoccurring characters. That's not counting background fodder and one shot villains.

It is handy to have one at least for main characters!
