Entirety animal Species: Barsu by Goatlactic Entirety animal Species: Barsu by Goatlactic
Wow I actually got two drawings done within the same week, go me! The Barsu are yet another mount animal of Desergen. Yes much like humans there are multiple species used for that purpose as Desergen is a planet relatively the same size as Earth and Deserge/Moln are found throughout. This species is much smaller than snueqs and therefore is exclusively used for one person travel or carrying small cargo. Unlike the snueq though they have alternative purposes as they're edible and their skin makes high quality leather.
Interestingly unlike all the other mammalian type species I've introduced from Desergen they aren't marsupials, they're most similar to the prodinoceras genus in structure. Though unlike them they're quite famous for having several spikes on each leg (one on their knee and two along their thighs). These are used to kick and knee rivals and predators.

Despite the spikes and those giant tusk like canines making you think they're a scary species barsu are pretty chill, more known for being stubborn than something that would attack a person. They're quite intelligent and express a high range of emotions, they even smile to indicate joy much like a lot of sapient species. As a last point of interest due to domestication this species comes in a wild range of colours and markings (see the chocolate brown piebald little sketch on the side) as well as slight variants in body types.

So enjoy!
Entirety and all creatures related to it belong to me

Whoa! I really like this design! It's simple and kinda earth-animal-like, yet still alien. Some of my favorite alien designs are like that.

:iconthumbsupplz: Awesome!

Thanks :la: Yeah I kinda wanted these critters to be kinda like something that could have existed on earth but never did. A bit of a spoiler for my next alien design but it will be quite a contrast for the next species that's the opposite (ie: something that looks truly alien).

Ahh nice design on this one!  It's nice to see another rideable species.  I particularly like the shape of the face and feet here. =)

Thank you uvu I hope to get at least a couple more rideable species out done for Entirety. Not every species uses them but a couple of others I haven't posted too (Vishquinza, Rosaital, Chi'Tsao have another species besides the Salagoi and debating if Shlen or Wayok use them. It certainly would be useful for Shlen considering they often get heavy enough that swimming and pushing themselves around is pretty tedious).

Aaaah, what a lovely species! <3 Mount animals are always fun.
Actually, before I read the description, I thought these would be close relatives to deserge! They have many similarities with them, at least on first glance, but it's interesting that they're not actually even in the same genus.

thank you :la: they are a lovely thing! I do hope to have at least a couple more to come between different planetary bodies. Also I think its the snooty snoot :o both species have very long faces and long canines. Also similar fur colour but most residents of Desergen are brown, its a very brownish planet.

I think the overall face structure and big paws gave me that feeling, but of course there are similarities between animals on the same planet even if they're not related! ;w; They also kinda reminded me of camels because of their flat feet and downward-facing snout, which of course fits a mount animal.

As I mentioned to someone else they're kinda based in the face at least on saiga antelope which have  the long droopy snout going o, also water deer for the canines. Thing is YOU ARE CORRECT, they have basis in camels too! Its hard to tell by the different drawings but they don't have a barrel chest, the front of their chest is long like that because they actually have a storage like a camel but located there rather than humps on their back. Luckily these chaps appear a lot in Entirety because Dal goes back to Desergen many times so you'll eventually get a better look at that :3

Also they have some donkey in their design too though more in the ears and general body shape than anything else. Basically the ecumulation of all those various ungulates combine with the colour scheme/big feet does work well to make them look a bit like Deserge so they end up looking like they evolved in the same general environment. G is trying to make sure there's kinda theme with aliens for each planet even if its simplifying planetary biology a bit if only so its less confusing for people reading to know what alien is from what planet though some exceptions exist (Yarkriek for example could fit easily on the Shlen's home planet instead of Vishquinza one because both are known for having really freaky aquatic lifeforms).

Aaaaaaaah, I see! Interesting stuff, it's always interesting to hear about different inspirations behind a design, since they're not always mega visible! .w.

Also I understand what you mean with wanting to make all lifeforms look like they'd come from certain planets, though I haven't actually drawn many animals from 7S (and haven't shown any, derp), when I one day get to that, I'd want to go for that same feeling.

:la: I will be very excited to see what species you come up with for all your planets! I should ask is your cast going to visit planets without any sapient species but still life being present or is it naughty illegal stuff like with my sci fi?
